Children's Museum Playologist
This is an on-site and non-remote position located in Central Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Position Summary: The primary responsibility of the Playologist is the facilitation of a positive and high quality guest experience at the Museum. The playologist serves as part of the program team to deliver high quality experience to families, school groups, birthday groups and any other visiting guests. This is a part-time, non-exempt position requiring weekend availability. This is a front facing position requiring full guest interaction. A Museum Playologist reports to the Executive Director or the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities & Duties: ● Provide children and families with the best possible guest experience through the facilitation of play and learning in exhibit spaces. ● Deliver high quality, engaging programs, demonstrations, and workshops to families, school groups and other visitors. ● Continuous interaction with guests to bring Museum exhibits and environments to life. ● Create and maintain a high level of energy and dedication to customer service with guests and staff ● Assist in daily set-up and cleaning of Museum exhibits and spaces. ● Assist in the facilitation of programs on an ongoing basis. ● Responsible for stocking exhibits with props, and notifying the Operations Manager/Executive Director when stock is low. ● Responsible for preparing and ensuring all program materials and exhibits are ready at the beginning of each day.
Education/Training: ● Must be at least 18 years old. ● Must pass Department of Justice/FBI Live scan background check ● Bilingual English/Spanish/Other preferred but not required ● Previous experience or desire to work with children is preferred.
Experience/Skills: ● Ability to work with a variety of people ● Work well under time constraints, and in high-paced, stressful and noisy conditions ● Good public speaking/program delivery skills ● Demonstrated experience and interest working with young children and their families ● Customer service experience. ● Basic computer skills. Experience with cash handling procedures.
Physical Requirements ● Ability to walk, stand or sit for prolonged periods and move swiftly when needed ● Ability to lift up to 25 lbs on a regular basis ● Able to reach in all directions ● Adequate sight or corrected vision for the purpose of reading directions, and printed or written materials ● Able to hear and speak to communicate with coworkers and the public ● Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment
