Music and Worship Coordinator
Location: First Presbyterian Church of Fond du Lac
Position Type: Part-Time, Hourly
Hours: Approximately 25 hours per week
Start Date: Feb 1st or later
Reports To: Head of Staff
Position Purpose
The Music and Worship Coordinator humbly nurtures the spiritual life of the congregation through music and worship ministry. This role collaborates closely with pastoral staff, church leaders, and volunteers to create meaningful, inclusive, and engaging worship experiences that support the mission and vision of First Presbyterian Church of Fond du Lac.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Pastor, staff, and congregational leaders to plan and provide music for all worship services, including hymns, preludes, postludes, and special music.
Plan, arrange, rehearse, and lead music and arts in worship settings that align with scripture, worship themes, and the church year.
Coordinate with musicians, choirs, handbells, and other music groups to celebrate the diversity of the congregation within worship services.
Recruit, schedule, train, and mentor worship volunteers (cantors, musicians, liturgists, ushers, etc.), ensuring inclusion across age, background, and ability.
Encourage and incorporate artistic elements that create a transformative worship environment.
Oversee the care, use, and upkeep of all church-owned instruments.
Ensure proper reporting and compliance with music copyright and licensing requirements, including online use.
Attend staff meetings, Worship Team meetings, and other meetings as needed.
Provide regular reports and communication to church leadership and Session.
Assist, in collaboration with Worship Team Elder(s), in preparing and administering the music ministry budget.
Assist with special services and events such as weddings and funerals (compensation for these events is arranged separately and does not come from the church).
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Staff.
Qualifications
Demonstrates a committed Christian faith, servant leadership, integrity, and strong character.
Competency with a musical instrument; keyboard proficiency preferred.
Understanding of the relationship between scripture, worship themes, and seasons of the church year.
Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to support and advance the mission and vision of the church.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
