Job Title: Designer – Level 1 (entry level)
DOD (Dept of Defense) / Department of War (DOW) projects
US Citizenship required due to program access requirements.
Must be eligible to obtain DOD Clearance
Duration: up to 12 months Contract with possible extensions
Location: Newport News, VA
Work Schedule: First Shift 7:30AM-4:00 PM, Monday to Friday
Pay Rate: $22/hr - $28.99/hr on W2 [the pay rate may differ depending on your skills, education, experience, and other qualifications]

Job Description:
- This position will support design initiatives.
- The candidate will convert 3D models into the Seimens NX application including setting up construction views.
- All trade disciplines will be involved in this effort.
- Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
- Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM, NX, or CATIA.
- Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal.
- Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.
- Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.
Desired Skills:
- Siemens NX and/or Inventor modeling experience
- Experience in manufacturing/installation drawing creation
- Trade experience using 3D work instructions in areas such as: Structure, Electrical, Piping, Mechanical, Ventilation, Sheetmetal
- Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Effective communication skills with both internal and external of the value stream
