Freelance Soft Goods Product Designer

 

We are a private label product manufacturer specializing in a wide range of soft goods categories, including pet products, home products, plush, and infant items. Our core categories include pet beds, pet apparel, pet toys, bean bags, patio cushions, plush toys, and baby products for major retail partners. We are seeking a talented and versatile Freelance Soft Goods Product Designer to support our product development team across multiple categories. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong creative design sensibilities with technical product development skills and enjoys working in a fast-paced, multi-category development environment. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is both creative and detail-oriented, capable of balancing trend-forward product design with practical production requirements. We are looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable, collaborative, and excited to work across a diverse range of product categories. Can be remote but would be great if in the Minneapolis/St Paul MN, area.

Responsibilities

 • Design and develop soft goods products across pet, home, plush, and infant categories 

• Create technical specification packs for factory production and sampling • Develop prints, patterns, color stories, and seasonal assortments 

• Build mood boards, trend presentations, and concept direction 

• Create product renderings, layouts, and presentation materials

 • Research market trends, retail assortments, and competitive products Preferred Skills & Qualifications

 • Experience designing soft goods products such as pet products, plush, home textiles, infant products, or related categories

 • Strong understanding of product development and manufacturing processes 

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator and Photoshop

 • Ability to create detailed tech packs and production-ready artwork 

• Strong print and pattern development skills 

• Excellent visual presentation and organizational skills

 • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

 • Experience working with private label or retail-focused product development is a plus 

This would be ongoing support - about 5-10 hours a week. 

Hourly rate - $30-$40 per hour.
