Food Science Technician
Mariani Packing Company, the largest independent dried fruit processor and packer in the United States, has an immediate opening for a food science technician with our growing operation in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. We are located on the east side of Wisconsin Rapids, just off Hwy 54 and only 15 minutes from the Plover/Stevens Point area. This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and generally works days, but will also work occasional extra hours during the evening or weekend as necessary when business needs arise.

Responsibilities
Scientific research and analysis of exiting product and production process.
Research and determine processes to increase yields and fruit usage.
Lead shelf life studies.
Water activity validations, dryer analysis, Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR) vacuum validations.
Trouble shooting and customer complain investigations.
Develop recipe, methodology and lab procedures, and assist with training of lab procedures.
Assists corporate research and development department with new product development to meet company objectives.
Leads harvest related raw fruit testing program in cooperation with the Director of Grower Relations.
Become proficient in the use of all lab related equipment.
Other duties as assigned by manager.
Preferred Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in food science, chemistry, or microbiology.
Ability to work hand-in-hand with lab technicians, dryer technicians and quality assurance staff.
Must have exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
Must be able to problem solve within a fast paced operation and meet deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills.
