Lab Support Technician II

Summary of role
The Laboratory Support Technician II is accountable for driving results in a fast-paced environment by assisting the laboratory staff with a wide range of tasks including laboratory housekeeping, glassware washing, equipment setup and stocking supplies. The position requires superior leadership behaviors of the Sterling core competencies and non-negotiables, as well as expertise in functional competencies included in this position profile.

Essential Functions
·        Removes dirty and/or broken glassware from the lab areas.
·        Washes and dries glassware and distributes to appropriate locations in the laboratories.
·        Maintains glass washing areas, keeping them clean and organized.
·        Removes pharmaceutical waste from the laboratories.
·        Performs monthly checks for expired chemicals and reagents and coordinates timely removal of expired materials.
·        Performs daily verification of analytical balance calibrations.
·        Assists analysts with tasks such as gathering materials, labeling glassware, preparing solutions, disposing of solutions, etc.
·        Ensures lab stations are clean, organized and properly stocked with supplies.
·        Ensures timely completion and compliance with cGMP and all other relevant company training requirements.

Key competencies
·        Basic knowledge of GMPs or GLPs is preferred.
·        Basic knowledge of a laboratory environment is required.
·        Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and interact with laboratory staff.
·        Strong oral and written communication skills.
·        Good organizational and time management skills
·        Works well in a team setting.
·        Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required.

Education and Experience
·        High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of experience in a laboratory setting; OR
·        Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Microbiology or other related field and 0-1+ year in a laboratory setting.
